Opening Ceremony of the "School-wide Lesson Study" under the Support of the JICA S-TEC Project

On the morning of March 25th, 2026, the Battambang Teacher Education College (BTEC) organized the opening ceremony for the "School-wide Lesson Study" research lessons in Mathematics and Science. The event was presided over by H.E. Dr. Chea Ratha, Director of BTEC, and attended by expert Japanese professors, representatives from the Directorate General for Teacher Education and Training, as well as management, lecturers, and teachers from the attached schools in Battambang and Phnom Penh.
During the opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Chea Ratha emphasized that these research lessons are a result of close collaboration with the JICA S-TEC project, aimed at promoting attached schools to become "active schools". He stated that utilizing new teaching methodologies in these research lessons will help nurture students to become independent problem-solvers who can apply scientific thinking to their learning.
Furthermore, this two-day program focuses on the following key components:
1. Research Lessons: The implementation of 6 research lessons, including Grade 2, 5, and 6 Mathematics and Grade 3, 8, and 9 Science/Physics, taught by teachers from the attached schools.
2. Collaborative Learning Cycle: Post-lesson discussions in both small and large groups to examine student learning outcomes and identify critical questions to improve teaching practices.
Through this lesson study, BTEC firmly believes it will strengthen the professional capacity of lecturers and teachers, transforming classrooms into places where students learn with joy and high efficiency.
