Discussion Meeting on S-TEC Project Progress

A consultative meeting regarding the monitoring mission for the "Project for Strengthening Teacher Education Colleges" (S-TEC Project) was held via Zoom on the morning of January 26, 2026. This session was chaired by H.E. Dr. Chea Ratha, Director of the Battambang Teacher Education College (BTEC), and Mr. Atsushi Matachi, Senior Education Advisor of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The meeting was attended by the management and teacher educators of BTEC, as well as the JICA technical team and the S-TEC project implementation team. The collective purpose was to review, evaluate, and reflect on the progress achieved, while also examining the expanded project scope which focuses primarily on enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in Science and Mathematics.
During the meeting, the project implementation team from the BTEC presented progress and results that respond to the project's framework and key expected outcomes. These include the strengthening of partnerships and supports to attached schools through Lesson Study, the revision of syllabi and instructional materials, and the creation of platforms for sharing experiences among various teacher education colleges.
In conclusion, H.E. Dr. Chea Ratha and Mr. Atsushi Matachi, along with the management and all relevant working groups, held an in-depth discussion on current challenges and the preparation of strategic action plans. These efforts aim to ensure the sustainability of all project achievements after JICA's support officially concludes at the end of February 2027, with the ongoing goal of continuously developing the capacity of teacher trainers and teachers.
